6th Canadian HIV/AIDS Skills Building Symposium
ICAD attended the 6th Canadian HIV/AIDS Skills Building Symposium in Montreal March 4-7, 2010. Nicci Stein, Executive Director, presented at the March 6 plenary session, entitled "The International Context of HIV/AIDS." During the 4 day symposium, ICAD hosted 5 workshops:
- Canada's UNGASS Country Report: What is it and how to use it
- Regional activities leading to the International AIDS Conference in Vienna July 2010
- The Broader Determinants of Health in an Aboriginal Context
- Global Health Initiatives and HIV/AIDS: Current Issues in Global Health and the Role of Civil Society.
- What Makes a Network Work?
Building a National HIV/AIDS Network for Black, African and Caribbean Canadians
HIV vaccine preparedness and new HIV prevention technologies: Satellite session
ICAD collaborated with the Canadian AIDS Society and the Canadian AIDS Treatment Information Exchange to host a satellite session on HIV vaccine preparedness and new HIV prevention technologies at the 6th Canadian HIV/AIDS Skills Building Symposium. The session was attended by over 70 participants and featured presenters from the AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition, the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, the US Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences, the University of Toronto and the Maple Leaf Medical Clinic.
