Ten years ago a unique organization was formed. Inspired by tragedy and suffering that global leaders could no longer ignore, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria brought hope to the world. Ten years later, that hope has turned into reality. Almost eight million lives have been saved. Over three million people are now receiving anti-retroviral treatment and millions more are accessing testing and counseling services. Over eight and a half million cases of TB have been detected and treated. Malaria deaths have fallen by 50% in eleven African countries. All of this was unimaginable before we had the Global Fund. But our work is not yet complete. Of the 34 million people living with HIV, there are still 15 million who need treatment. Until last year, we were set on a path to end AIDS, TB and malaria.
