Report – Canada: meeting the challenge

Canada: Meeting the Challenge, the Canada Pavilion at the 2016 International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2016) in Durban, South Africa, brought together AIDS 2016 delegates from Canada and around the world; it showcased Canada’s leadership in the HIV response and provided a meeting place for delegates to meet, share their experiences and learn from each other. Towards the Improvement of HIV Prevention Services for African, Caribbean and Black Communities in Canada: A Gap Analysis
November 2011

This gap analysis was undertaken as part of the Strengthening the Capacity of Service Providers to Deliver HIV Prevention Programs to the African Diaspora in Canada project. This project aims to ensure that African, Caribbean and Black (ACB) Communities in Canada are meaningfully engaged in HIV prevention efforts. It also intends to build the capacity of service providers, both mainstream as well as African and Caribbean Diaspora and Black-specific, so that they are better equipped to deliver prevention and other HIV services to ACB communities in Canada.

Prevention Technologies in the Broader Spectrum of HIV Prevention: Proceedings and evaluation report

This report provides an overview of the proceedings of the ancillary event called: “Prevention technologies in the broader spectrum of HIV prevention” delivered in conjunction with the 2010 Annual Canadian Conference on HIV/AIDS Research in Saskatoon (May 13, 2010).    The event was supported by a grant from the Canadian HIV Vaccines Initiative (CHVI). The report also summarizes the process and outcome evaluation findings from the perspective of the 35 participants and the three host organizations: the Canadian AIDS Society (CAS), CATIE and the Interagency Coalition on AIDS and Development (ICAD).

New Prevention Technologies and Vaccine Development: Satellite Meeting Report

Research and clinical trials of new HIV prevention technologies, such as vaccines, microbicides and pre-exposure prophylaxis, provide hope for more effective prevention of HIV transmission. Communities are aware of research developments and need timely, accurate information which they can use to inform and engage their members. The impact of racism on employment opportunities, access to housing and social mobility is a contributing factor.
