Dear ICAD Members,

I hope this note finds you all well and that your transition from summer season to the fervour of fall has been invigorating. It’s an exciting time with many events and activities underway within Canada’s domestic HIV and HCV/STBBI sector, the country’s global engagement, and recent advances in global health and international development. In our rapidly changing domestic and international context, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to hold ICAD’s Annual Members’ Meeting on November 22 in Toronto, ON – the eve of the 2017 CATIE Forum,
Transforming our practice: New knowledge, new strategies.

Our 2017 Members’ Meeting will see the unveiling of our 2017-2020 Strategic Plan, a review of our 2016-2017 Annual Report, and a look ahead at the year to come highlighting key events and opportunities for all ICAD members at national and world forums. We will welcome ICAD’s new 2017-2018 Board of Directors and applaud the energy, commitment and contributions of our out-going Directors. The Coalition’s audited Financial Statements will also be presented.

What does the new date mean for members?

With approval from Corporations Canada, our new date and time does not impact the meeting agenda or items up for discussion. It does recognize that with tighter budgets and busier schedules across our sector, it’s critical to optimize moments like these when we can come together as partners, as colleagues, as advocates, and as friends to increase access to platforms for shared learning, networking and nurturing collaboration.

With the new date, we are re-opening the Board election process. More details about the nomination process are found below. Copies of ICAD’s 2016-17 Financial Statements will be available to members upon request in October and to all registered AGM participants.

Please join us in Toronto on November 22, 2017 by registering here.

We look forward to seeing you there!

In solidarity,

Robin

ICAD Board Nominations:

With the new date of the ICAD AGM, the Board election process has been re-opened. ICAD kindly invites all eligible members to submit their nomination for ICAD’s incoming Board of Directors. The Board consists of four officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer) and not more than five other Directors. Two of these positions are reserved for persons living with HIV.

Four of ICAD’s nine Board positions are up for election this year.  Directors are elected for a two-year term at the Annual General Meeting on November 22, 2017 in Toronto, ON.

ICAD strongly encourages persons from all regions of Canada to run for election to ensure national representation on the Board.  We also value a Board that is representative of our diverse membership and we encourage nominations from people living with HIV, women, trans people, people from countries where HIV is endemic, Indigenous people and youth over the age of 18. Directors meet every two to three months via telephone conference, and up to two times per year in person. A job description outlining the responsibilities of Board members is below.

Nominations must be received no later than Tuesday, October 17, 2017 and must be seconded by two voting members in good standing. To determine if your sponsor is a member in good standing, please refer to the list of ICAD members.

Members who have already submitted their nomination packages are not required to re-submit.

Please note that candidates will be expected to attend the Annual General Meeting (in-person or online) being held November 22, 2017.
